Three medals for the price of two: MK Half-Marathon 2017, MK Rocket 5K and the 2 Day MK Challenge. Official chip time was 2:48:07. Nowhere near my PB: that’s a result of a lack of training.
Preparation for tomorrow’s MK Half Marathon.
Still hard work, but I wanted to get another 5k in before this weekend’s half-marathon. Weight loss since 10 April is 5lbs.
Back to running after almost 6 weeks’ break on a cold and windy evening, so very difficult and slow. Not exactly confidence-inspiring for the half-marathon this weekend…
Second opportunity this week to walk to work and run home. Still finding it hard work though. Maybe next week? Weight loss of 1lb, though, since Monday.
So after an eight week lay-off – other than walking to and from work when I can – it was back into my evening run home. What rapidly became clear was a) how my fitness has declined in that time, and hence b) how running the Paris Marathon in less than four weeks would be foolhardy: I’d have done even less preparation than I had when I ran the Berlin Marathon and that was bad enough. So it’s the MK Half Marathon in May and a couple of 10k races and back into the ballot for London and/or Paris 2018. Oh and I’ve gained 1lb in the same eight weeks…
After a flight in from London to Seoul and having been up for 22 hours now, I thought I’d brave the -2C to +2C temperatures to see what my mapped out 7km run would be like this week. “Hellish” is the answer: the first 2.7km is pretty much all uphill gaining some 500ft and just when I started coming back down, I discovered that the back part of the route was under hard-packed ice and snow. Ah…
My first run commute of 2017, despite still getting rid of the manflu from last week. Felt OK, but actually quite pleased with the overall time. Weighed myself afterwards and have dropped only one pound since just before Christmas which was disappointing at first but maybe not too bad given I usually pile on the pounds over Christmas every year.
