London Fashion Weekend 2014

I was lucky enough to be invited back again to shoot the Vodafone London Fashion Weekend on 22 February 2014.

London Fashion Weekend Photographer

The photographers had a briefing beforehand before being given passes to get into the show and grab our places in the pit. I ended up shooting something like 800 images from which I selected a few ones I like, which are now in a separate portfolio called, amazingly, London Fashion Weekend 2014.

This year, I was using a new zoom lens but added a monopod and battery grip to my shopping list (now sourced) to cope better for next year.

London Fashion Weekend 2013

Well I was lucky enough to be invited to shoot the Trend Catwalk Show at London Fashion Weekend on 24 February 2013.

The photographers had a briefing beforehand before being given passes to get into the show and grab our places in the pit. I ended up shooting something like 450 images from which I selected a few ones I like, which are now in a separate portfolio called, amazingly, London Fashion Weekend 2013.

Elle Black, February 2013

I finally managed to arrange a shoot with the fabulous Elle Black earlier this week at her Victorian house in London, just before she moved out.

As expected, we had great fun with the shoot despite my forgetting to take my ringflash and with one of the modelling lamps refusing to work.

I will definitely work with Elle again: she’s a consummate professional and a great person … and she also writes good poetry too!

Edits are under way at the moment, but I’ve uploaded the first couple of edits, one to the Fashion portfolio and one to the Glamour one.

Weekend Break

Well what a great weekend that was!

Nipped over to GT’s after work on Friday for a lovely home-cooked meal before an early night as GT was up early on Saturday morning for another cheeky 20 mile run before breakfast! She’s almost ready for her seventh marathon in three weeks’ time; her third London Marathon.

So when she got back, I got up and we headed into Epsom: GT to get a pedicure and me for a coffee and porridge at Caffè Nero. Then we set off for our weekend destination…

GT was a tad hungry by now, so shortly after leaving hers (and returning to pick up some undies!), we stopped for lunch at the Bear in Oxshott. Lovely food too with huge sandwiches and excellent fillings plus some great choices of starters and sharing platters.

Then on to our hotel for the weekend: Luton Hoo where one of GT’s friends was celebrating her birthday that evening. I’d had a cunning plan and booked us a room in the Mansion House itself as I had (incorrectly) assumed we’d be eating in the main house rather than one of the other buildings on the estate so we wouldn’t need to walk anywhere or go out in the cold that night.

And we were greeted with a pleasant surprise: we were upgraded to a Mansion House Suite – usually a £500 night option – which was heroically impressive with its own sitting area, a massive bed, a lobby and separate bathroom, walk-in wardrobes, etc.

The bottle of champagne I’d ordered was there chilling in its ice bucket and so everything was great as we spent the afternoon with a photoshoot and sipping champagne. GT said she could easily get used to this! My favourite from the shoot is on my photography profiles/pages.

Time then to get dressed for dinner: GT in a new LBD and heels – GT had brought a selection of stilettos with her including the Jimmy Choos, of course – and me in a suit and tie.

We then realised that Lu’s birthday dinner was actually taking place in the brasserie which was a short taxi ride away – the hotel has a fleet of its own taxis to ferry guests around the estate – so off we went for more good food and wines with great company before heading back to the main house for a nightcap!

The next morning we had a late start with a leisurely breakfast in the restaurant before heading outside for a walk around the extensive gardens (and a quick play on their croquet lawn) before coming back for a pot of tea in their gardens in the warm spring sunshine.

Sadly, we then had to pack and head off home after lunch. A memorable weekend!

Feedback from Polly Lockitt

After my test shoot with Polly Lockitt produced some great results, I was very pleased to receive this recommendation from Polly over on Purestorm:

“I had a lovely shoot with Richard recently, at my home. Richard is professional, respectful, friendly and well mannered. The time flew by! I very much enjoyed working with Richard and I can not wait for our second shoot! I highly recommend Richard to all models. You will not be disappointed! Thank you Richard for a great shoot and see you soon, x”

Polly Lockitt Photoshoot

I had a lovely shoot with Polly Lockitt yesterday at her flat in Orpington. It started off even better as Polly has a habit of laying on something to eat for the photographer: in my case, a sausage bap! Fabulous!

The shoot was really a test shoot to see if we clicked artistically and we did: Polly’s a great model to work with and her photos really don’t do her justice. Some great nudes and some lovely lingerie shots. Time didn’t permit us to really go to town – that’ll teach us for nattering away during the shoot!

Some of the results are in the Lingerie, Artistic and Headshot albums.

Despair

August Booked Up!

OK, that’s August accounted for: a shoot in Kent (outside and inside) and another shoot (street fashion, latex and mainstream lifestyle) with the fabulous Anita De Bauch, who’s also left me some great feedback over on Purestorm:

“I shot with Richard and Madame Bink at Light Spot Studio on 30th July and would happily do so again. He was punctual, friendly, polite and professional, and we were both delighted with the photos. I would highly recommend Richard to anyone and am already planning my next shoot with him!”

In other news, I’ve ordered some new kit: a Canon EOS-7D, Canon EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS lens and a Canon Speedlite 580EX II flashgun for external work, mainly, though I may use it with my Bowens Gemini 200 Kit lights too as a trigger and bounce/fill-in flash.

Photoshoot with Marlyn Lindsay

Saturday saw a shoot with Marlyn Lindsay and it was an absolute pleasure! She’s a true professional and a joy to ‘work’ with: a “can do” mentality with a wardrobe to die for!

Not only that, she was great fun too and I even got coffees and teas (and biscuits and an offer of food)!

We’ve already got some ideas for further shoots and I would recommend her in an instant to anyone wanting to work with a fantastic model. The first model I’ve ever got through an entire memory card with (and more): the poses, outfits and ideas were coming thick and fast. If you’re a photographer, do yourself a favour and book her up!

She also left me some great feedback on Purestorm:

“Had an absolutely great shoot with Richard today. From the outset, he makes you feel at ease and comfortable. Had some really great ideas and the shoot just flew by.

I would more than happily recommend Richard to any model, he really is a joy to work with.

Thank you for a great afternoon, I look forward to seeing the results and working with you again soon.

Marlyn x”

Some of the results can be seen in my Lingerie and Art Nude, Artistic, Fashion and Pin-Up portfolios.
