Bikes, Bands and Babes

Well, I couldn’t think of a better ‘b’ word for women without getting more insulting; ‘birds’? ‘Bints’? ‘Bitches’? Etc.   Anyway, last weekend I had the weekend free to myself so at the last minute I arranged with a friend, Yox, to head up to the NEC at Birmingham for the Motorcycle Live show. Yox said he’d arrange the show tickets and I arranged a couple of First Class rail tickets up there. He then stayed over at Chez Bleu on the Friday night after some pubbage and two massive XXL pizzas (which may have caused some ‘issues’ with air quality:

Scratch and Sniff

We couldn’t face breakfast early on Saturday morning so headed straight to Euston and then on to the NEC where we spent most of the day checking out the bikes, buying boots and bags and snapping away at one or two models – see my earlier update on my Blue Rex blog.

Then back to London, parting company at London Bridge.

I went back to Chez Bleu and packed my full camera kit and headed back to London Bridge to pick up some bits and bobs from the office, including another new ring flash adaptor, this one being for my Speedlites. I then picked up a friend, Alex, and off we went to do a bit of an impromptu shoot – again the results are on an earlier update.

A great laugh with us pratting about, but I got a few decent shots before we headed over to Brigade for dinner and fizzy pop for the second time in a week for me!

Sunday then saw me having a nice lay-in before heading over to Covent Garden to meet Amy for a late lunch at Wagamama and shopping. Still no sign of my iPad mini from the online store yet and none in stock at the Apple Store there, sadly. A long day’s shopping before heading home.

Monday evening was a rush: dashed back from the office to change and head back out to the O2 for the Marilyn Manson and Rob Zombie “Twins of Evil Tour” gig and a meal with GT. Great entertainment all round!

Zombie!

This week has brought some hectic juggling of my diary: Westminster and Birmingham this week and Westminster and Paris next week before I head off to Fuerteventura again for some well-earned R&R.

Alex

Well I’d just bought another ring flash adaptor for fashion/portraiture stuff which arrived on Saturday, so when I went to collect it, I had an unstructured shoot with an old friend and alternative model, Alexa Star.

Just mucking about really for an hour or so but we got some fun images, which are in the Lifestyle portfolio:

Ooh look!

So there I was, reading the latest issue of “GO” Magazine, which is Kawasaki UK’s magazine for its Kawasaki Riders Club. Reading it – literally – from cover to cover, I saw my photo from Saint-Julien-du-Tournel on the back cover:

Now where’s my licence fee for the photo? ;)

Route 66

So to celebrate my 50th birthday – no, really – I decided to ride Route 66 from Chicago to LA on a Harley.

Full details of my trip can be found on this blog of mine.

I’d thought about taking a model along, but the strenuous schedule – just under 3,000 miles (with detours to the Grand Canyon and Las Vegas) in 11 days – wouldn’t have allowed sufficient time for setting up the shots properly, so I went alone. And what an epic adventure it was!

One or two snaps have found their way into the Scenic portfolio.

Hello Kitty!

A weekend shoot with the lovely Marlyn Lindsay saw us trying a Catwoman theme and then some secretarial lifestyle and tease shoots.

As always, Marlyn and I had a great laugh – I love working with her – and now I need to work on the edits; in the meantime, I’ve had a quick play with a couple of images so far: they’re in my Fetish portfolio page:

Impromptu Shoot

A stay at the delightful but expensive Luton Hoo last weekend gave me the opportunity for a quickie boudoir photoshoot in the suite I’d hired and then some lifestyle images in the grounds the following morning.

The ones I like best are in the Lingerie and Lifestyle portfolios.

Weekend Break

Well what a great weekend that was!

Nipped over to GT’s after work on Friday for a lovely home-cooked meal before an early night as GT was up early on Saturday morning for another cheeky 20 mile run before breakfast! She’s almost ready for her seventh marathon in three weeks’ time; her third London Marathon.

So when she got back, I got up and we headed into Epsom: GT to get a pedicure and me for a coffee and porridge at Caffè Nero. Then we set off for our weekend destination…

GT was a tad hungry by now, so shortly after leaving hers (and returning to pick up some undies!), we stopped for lunch at the Bear in Oxshott. Lovely food too with huge sandwiches and excellent fillings plus some great choices of starters and sharing platters.

Then on to our hotel for the weekend: Luton Hoo where one of GT’s friends was celebrating her birthday that evening. I’d had a cunning plan and booked us a room in the Mansion House itself as I had (incorrectly) assumed we’d be eating in the main house rather than one of the other buildings on the estate so we wouldn’t need to walk anywhere or go out in the cold that night.

And we were greeted with a pleasant surprise: we were upgraded to a Mansion House Suite – usually a £500 night option – which was heroically impressive with its own sitting area, a massive bed, a lobby and separate bathroom, walk-in wardrobes, etc.

The bottle of champagne I’d ordered was there chilling in its ice bucket and so everything was great as we spent the afternoon with a photoshoot and sipping champagne. GT said she could easily get used to this! My favourite from the shoot is on my photography profiles/pages.

Time then to get dressed for dinner: GT in a new LBD and heels – GT had brought a selection of stilettos with her including the Jimmy Choos, of course – and me in a suit and tie.

We then realised that Lu’s birthday dinner was actually taking place in the brasserie which was a short taxi ride away – the hotel has a fleet of its own taxis to ferry guests around the estate – so off we went for more good food and wines with great company before heading back to the main house for a nightcap!

The next morning we had a late start with a leisurely breakfast in the restaurant before heading outside for a walk around the extensive gardens (and a quick play on their croquet lawn) before coming back for a pot of tea in their gardens in the warm spring sunshine.

Sadly, we then had to pack and head off home after lunch. A memorable weekend!

Barcelona Images

In other news, I’ve just had a quick city break to Barcelona this week and took in some of the sights and sounds whilst I was there.

Sadly, a lot of the Gaudi architecture was hidden by scaffolding and hoardings as there appeared to be a lot of renovation going on, but I managed to grab some images I quite like whilst walking around.

They can be found in the Lifestyle and Scenic portfolio pages.

Soraya Edits – Finally!

I’ve had a few days free this week and started going over some of my back catalogue of images: I still have hundreds of images worth using if I can do a little cropping and adjustment and add my watermarks and copyright information.

There are some edits from shoots with Polly to add plus I spent some time looking at some of the images from a shoot I did with a really lovely mature model, 46 year old Soraya. Some of those images are in the Fetish, Headshots, Fashion and Lingerie portfolio pages.
